Joining our panel of marketing mavens, it's Katie Vogel!
Katie received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama in 2011 and her Certificate of Christian Ministry from Highlands College in 2013. After graduating from ministry school, Katie stepped into the world of vocational ministry as the Creative and Marketing Director at a church in Fort Myers, Florida, overseeing communications, social media, print, design, and videography.
Her heart never really left Church of the Highlands (or her now husband, Luke), and after developing a solid understanding for what it takes to make social media effective in the church world, she came back to Birmingham to join Highlands’ staff as Social Media Director in 2014. Katie has since seen the church’s Instagram follower base of 3,250 in 2014 grow to now over 83,000, and a Facebook following of 30,000 grow to now over 108,000. She has helped Highlands not only reach their membership base on a daily basis but have the opportunity to touch, influence, and inspire churches and leaders around the world.
Katie believes thoughtfulness is the key to social media connection and uses her own (and her amazing team’s) empathy and compassion to help meet felt needs and create a very personal social media experience at Highlands. She attributes the growth of Highlands’ platforms to accessibility, personality, intentionality, personal care, and the excellent content of the Highlands Creative team.
She also hosts Untethered Podcast, a show dedicated to discussing difficult things to help women understand that they are not alone in their hard seasons and that no struggle disqualifies someone from being able to live with purpose and make a difference.
